Sara Davies net worth: Dragon’s Den investor’s huge wealth from craft industry – how much?

Sara Davies, 33, joined BBC show Dragon’s Den this year, becoming the youngest person ever to enter the Den as an investor. The programme sees wealthy business experts watch pitches from entrepreneurs looking for investment. Mum-of-two Sara founded crafting company Crafters Companion, which led to her making a fortune. What is her net worth? How did she make the large amount?

According to the BBC, Sara Davies’ company Crafter’s Companion turns over £34 million a year, and employs a staff of over 190 people around the UK and overseas.

She opened a craft supply company in 2005, while studying business at the University of York.

Realising there was a gap in the market for a machine that helped crafters make envelopes for their handmade cards, she swooped in.

The product, called The Enveloper, soon had her business turning over £500,000. As of 2018 the turnover was an amazing £25m.

Sara’s first foray into Television was hosting a craft show called Be Creative in 2018.

During the early days of her business, she herself was invited to pitch on Dragons Den, and has said of the experience: “It wasn’t all that long ago when I was in the position of the contestants so I really feel like I will be able to relate to their stories and their journeys so far.

“I understand the highs and lows of building a global business from the ground and taking that initial product idea all the way to market.”

Davies is a well-known face for fans of shopping TV, as she presents on Ideal World, the Home Shopping Network in America, Home Shopping Europe in Germany and the Shopping Channel in Canada.

She was made an MBE in 2016 and was awarded the honour by Prince William.

Her time on Dragon’s Den is likely to boost her earnings by investing in business opportunities presented to her on the show.

BBC Two called Davies a “formidable businesswoman” in a statement announcing her as the new Dragon.

Speaking about landing the role on Dragons’ Den, Davies bared all to the Loose Women panel on August 7.

Davies told the Loose Women panel: “It’s one of them things, I used to actually watch the programme when I was at university, so I did a management degree and right at the end of my studies, Dragons’ Den started.

“So we would watch it and I just remember ever since, we would watch it and people would always say to me: ‘You would be brilliant on that show.’

“I always thought I’d love to be on that show but you don’t just ring up the BBC – and I told one of my friends and he said just give them a ring.

“I said I can’t do that, so he did! He literally rang at the back end of last year, spoke to one of the producers and they said: ‘Yeah, absolutely!’

“They said: ‘We’re looking for a new female Dragon send her down we’ll have a chat with her. And literally, the rest is history.”
