Man Utd transfer news: Ole Gunnar Solskjaer interested in four midfielders | Football | Sport

Manchester United boss Solskjaer is eager to sign at least two midfielders this summer, regardless of what happens with Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic.

Pogba wants to leave the Red Devils for Real Madrid this summer, with his agent Mino Raiola recently saying: “Everyone knows the willingness of Paul to move on. We are in the process of that. Everyone knows what the feelings of Paul are.

“Everyone within the club, from the manager to the owner, knows Paul’s wishes.”

Matic, meanwhile, has emerged as a surprise transfer target for Serie A giants Inter and AC Milan.

United are targeting midfield reinforcements having also recently lost Ander Herrera and Marouane Fellaini.

And Sky Sports claim they have shown an interest in four midfielders so far this summer.

One of those is Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, with Sky Italia saying that the Red Devils were preparing a £72million bid for the midfielder today.

And Bruno Fernandes, Sean Longstaff and Mario Lemina are also in their sights.

Fernandes, it has been previously claimed, is calm over his Sporting Lisbon situation.

He still expects to join United this summer despite the Red Devils, so far, struggling to secure his signature.

Longstaff is admired by Solskjaer and has drawn comparisons with Michael Carrick throughout his Newcastle spell.

And Lemina is highly-rated at Southampton.

Meanwhile, speaking on United’s pre-season tour of Australia, Solskjaer confirmed he was looking at more reinforcements.

“We’re still in the market looking to do some business, as I’ve said before,” he said.

“But we’re patient, we’re Man United, we don’t have to sell and don’t have to overpay either. You have to have the right players at the right price.

“And if you look at the squad we’ve got now, there are so many good players anyway.

“I’m sure with a good pre-season behind us – that’s the main thing now – the ones who are here are working hard want to improve.

“It’s not just about fitness work, it’s about robustness, this squad needs to be more robust when the season gets going.

“Last year, we had a run of I don’t know how many games without any defeats but the end was disappointing because we couldn’t get back to winning ways and need to get back to that.

“Doing business in the football market is not going to be a quick fix overnight. And we have players here who I trust.”
