Wednesday afternoon’s stabbing comes as the epidemic has continued to spread across the city over the weekend.

A woman and three children aged under 12 have been stabbed in north London.

Last week, a man in his 40s was stabbed to death in broad daylight following a fight in south London.

Moreover, on June 29, 26-year-old Kelly Mary Fauvrelle was stabbed in Croydon while eight months pregnant.

Her baby was delivered at the scene but died four days later.

To combat the violence, Sadiq Khan recently promised a stop and search “blitz” three years after promising to “do everything in my power to cut stop and search”.

Mr Khan has also set up a Violence Reduction Unit in a bid to thwart the escalating levels of violence plaguing the capital, which he partly blames on Tory cuts to policing.
