While royal fans couldn’t get enough of Kate’s ensemble there was an important point to yesterday’s visits.

The mini-tour marked the launch of Kate’s ‘5 big questions on the under 5s’ survey which aims to spark a national conversation about the early years of child development.

Kate is a huge advocate of early years education and much of her charitable work focuses on supporting young children and families.

The Duchess hopes the new survey, which contains five short questions to be put to under five-year-olds, will help bring about lasting change for generations to come.

During the 24 hour tour, Kate visited Birmingham, London, Cardiff and Surrey.

In Cardiff, the mother-of-three delighted chatted to children, parents and staff at the Ely and Careau Children’s Centre.

Later she visited a women’s prison in Surrey.

Wednesday’s engagements came just days after Kate and Prince William hosted their first-ever Buckingham Palace reception.

The Queen put the future King and Queen consort in charge of the event to mark the UK-Africa Investment Summit, while she remained in Sandringham for her winter break.

Kate wore a stunning red sequinned evening gown at the state reception by British designer Needle & Thread which cost £410.

The Duchess looked gracious and she and William greeted business leaders and delegates from Africa and the UK.

Last week Kate wowed fans in another Zara number when she and Prince William visited Bradford for the day.

The black and white dress was on sale for £15.99 at Zara and sold out within hours after Kate was seen wearing it.

Kate and William have been busy with several royal engagements in the days since Prince Harry and Meghan announced they were stepping down as senior royals.

The couple are expected to take on more responsibilities in Meghan and Harry’s absence.
