ITV make hilarious error during England’s thrilling Euro 2020 qualifying win over Kosovo | Football | Sport

Fans were treated to a goal-fest as St Mary’s as Kosovo turned in a performance to be proud of for a country who last recorded a population of 1.831 million.

It was a nightmare start for the hosts after Michael Keane gifted Valon Berisha the opener inside 36 seconds.

The response from England was emphatic as Raheem Sterling turned in the equaliser seven minutes later.

Harry Kane, an own goal from Mergim Vojvoda plus two from Jadon Sancho saw England go in 5-1 to the good at half-time.

Kosovo then pulled two quick fire goals back in the second half through Belisha and Vedat Muriqi.

ITV then appeared to make a huge blunder after a penalty was awarded to England following a foul on Ross Barkley.

As Kane stepped up from the spot, the scoreline in the top left corner read ‘ENG 5-4 KOS’.

At this point, the score was only 5-3, but Kane’s penalty was saved anyway.

Eagled-eyed fans on Twitter didn’t miss the blunder, pointing it out of social media.

One said: “Before the penalty was taken the score on ITV momentarily flicked 5 4. Omen?”

A second added: “ITV just showed the score as 5-4, we know what’s coming #ENGKOS”

While a third wrote: “Did someone at ITV assume that was going in – and then hit the wrong button? The score said 5-4 for a second!”

England ensured they maintain their 100 per cent record, winning the end-to-end contest 5-3.
