Prince Charles and Camilla offer warm anniversary congratulations to Queen and Philip | Royal | News

Prince Charles and his wife Camilla publicly celebrated the 73rd wedding anniversary of the monarch and the Duke of Edinburgh with a sweet tweet. Their official Twitter account, Clarence House, wrote this morning: “Wishing a happy 73rd wedding anniversary to Her Majesty The Queen and His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh.”

The message was accompanied by the portrait released yesterday by Buckingham Palace, showing the Queen and Prince Philip smiling at the card made by their great-grandchildren Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.

In this portrait, the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh are pictured in the Oak Room at Windsor Castle.

While the monarch looks on, the Duke holds the card made by his beloved great-grandchildren.

More cards sent to them ahead of their important anniversary are laying on the table in front of the elderly couple.

This portrait is filled with significance, as it doesn’t just show the monarch and her husband as beloved great-grandparents.

In fact, the Queen accessorised her pale blue outfit with the Chrysanthemum Brooch, the same invaluable jewel she donned in pictures taken during her honeymoon with Philip more than seven decades ago.

The monarch, who received this brooch when she was still a Princess in 1946, also wore this jewel in portraits marking her Diamond Wedding Anniversary in 2007.

Prince Charles and Camilla’s sweet message came shortly after Kensington Palace shared Kate, Duchess of Cambridge, and Prince William’s public congratulations to the Queen and Prince Philip.

In a tweet, Kensington Palace wrote on behalf of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge: “Wishing a very happy wedding anniversary to Her Majesty The Queen and His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh!”

The Cambridges added to their message a close-up picture showing more in detail the card crafted by their children.
