Officers from the Metropolitan police were called to the scene shortly after 7:40 and found the injured men.

The incident took place on Three Colt Street in Limehouse.

The victim’s conditions are not believed to be life threatening.

A police spokesman said: “Officers remain in the area as enquiries continue. No arrests.”

A Section 60 is in place for the E14 and E3 postcodes until 8am on Friday morning.

Under Section 60 police officers have the power to stop and search within a certain area.

Metropolitan police guidelines explain: “Section 60 is a legitimate power and a tactical option for the Metropolitan Police service to use in the prevention of serious violence and the detection of dangerous instruments and offensive weapons (and in certain circumstances, the removal of items worn wholly or mainly for the purpose of concealing identity).

“Supervision, scrutiny and accountability are seen as key factors to ensure the ‘trust and confidence’ of communities in the use of this power.”
